Welcome to Stoney Royd Shorthorns.
Stoney Royd is an upland Pennine hill farm that has a history going back to the 14th century with the house being rebuilt in the latter part of the 17th century and completed in 1715 as one of the first Palladian Style Houses in England but still using vernacular architectural motifs. Latterly part of the Victorian Estate established by Thomas Riley, Stoney Royd is now the home of the Stoney Royd beef shorthorn herd as well being home to a flock of pedigree Lleyns that have been a closed flock for twenty years.
The Stoney
Royd herd was established in Autumn 2009. The main
bloodlines were from Chapelton, Lowther and Westmoor but we also
set out to capture traditional shorthorn strengths from more
traditional genetics.
